We the undersigned are petitioning The Very Rev. Michael Battle, PhD and the Church of Our Saviour Vestry to reconsider the removal of Diane Goodrich, as Director of A Child’s Garden School.
We believe that this poor, unilateral decision was reached hastily and not in accordance with the church and its by-laws. In doing so, The Very Rev. Michael Battle, without consultation or following the proper COS church protocol, breached his responsibility in governing the church.
Therefore, we the parents and faculty of A Child’s Garden School and the parishioners of Church of Our Saviour respectfully request that Diane Goodrich be reinstated immediately as Director.
Diane has given over 30 years of outstanding service to both the Church of Our Saviour and to A Child’s Garden School. Her leadership skills and strong spiritual core of faith have brought together and created a dynamic learning environment for our children, the faculty and the COS community.
Her outstanding reputation at the school and within the church has been instrumental in encouraging ACGS families to also become COS members, thereby facilitating in the church’s growth and helping reach their number one goal of attracting young members and families to COS.
As the Director of the church’s only profitable resource, Diane has continually created new educational avenues for families to fill the needs of the growing community. Under her guidance, ACGS has expanded to meet the increase in demand by offering afternoon preschool classes, as well as the very popular Tiny Two’s program. She created and runs the weekly Mommy and Me classes, which are a continual funnel for future ACGS enrollment and aid in a healthy waiting list.
Through the years Diane has carefully planned fundraisers and Gifting programs that have brought in over $200k in contributions, donations and profit from various annual community events during her Directorship.
Most importantly, Diane has helped create a spiritually nurturing environment for all students and a stable place where we as parents can feel comfortable - even lucky - to leave our children each day. By inviting families from all cultures and faiths to grow and share as a community and encouraging special needs children to enroll she has built a very special place, and one where all who enter the Garden are lovingly embraced.
These gifts she has brought forth through her genuine love for the children, the school and COS are but a sampling of the many, many reasons why Diane Goodrich should remain as the Director of A Child’s Garden School. We, as a community, strongly feel that she has been dealt a great injustice and gross lack of respect through The Very Rev. Michael Battle’s misguided decision and leadership.
We respectfully request that you overturn the decision in favor of reinstatement.
Kindly,
The Parents and Community of
A Child’s Garden School
I have formally submitted a request for a review of the decision to the Vestry executive committee. We are currently preparing a briefing document that outlines the procedural inconsistencies regarding the removal of Diane Goodrich for the upcoming board session.

My kids went there and they loved her. She made that place a home. Bring her back right now.

Diane has been the heart of that school for as long as I can remember. This is just wrong.
