This petition was created due to recent events which led to the resignation of a great animal shelter director, Ashley Behrens. Ms. Behrens has done an outstanding job, for the last 5 years, in caring for the animals of Brookhaven, running the facility and turning it into what we know it today; as well as doing her part in saving the town money.
With Ms. Behrens gone, there are many concerns that do, and should, arise when it comes to the well-being and future care of Brookhaven’s shelter animals. Those who know Ms. Behrens, or at the very least have seen the great progress made at the shelter during her time there, should realize her character and professionalism speak volumes for her and all she’s accomplished.
We the undersigned kindly request Ms. Behrens be reinstated as Brookhaven Animal Shelter Director, and Mr. Edward Romaine, Brookhaven Town Supervisor, reject her resignation effective immediately so that our town shelter can return to the great safe haven we've come to love.

Ashley was so wonderful. I adopted a Blind, Shiz zu from Brookhaven Shelter. Her love and concern for (Damien) now named Buddy's life was overwhelming. She has done amazing and you should do whatever you have to do to get her back, asap.
Why in the world would you get rid of such an asset to the shelter. I’m a business owner and she’s the type of employee you absolutely want working for you. Please reinstate her ASAP. The shelter needs her as well as the animals.
Mrs Behrens has done amazing things with the shelter since she has been working there. She has brought awareness to adopting pets, raised funds to help the needs of animals in the shelters and so much more. Her love and passion to save these animals goes above and beyond.
Ashley Behrens has been an effective Shelter Director and would like to see her back in charge. She knows the dogs and can work with shelters to find them safe havens. She has vet tech experience which saves the shelter a lot of money with her hands on expertise.
I have known Ashley since she worked at my bet’s office. She was gentle and kind towards all of my dogs, and from I have seen, she responds the same way to all the little homeless companions at the shelter. Bring her back.
Please reinstate Ashley Behrens as Director of the Brookhaven Animal Shelter.

As a Brookhaven resident and taxpayer, I am appalled to see what has happened, and is happening, at the shelter. Ms. Behrens did wonders for the shelter and the animals it is supposed to help. She needs to be reinstated in her position.
