This petition was created due to recent events which led to the resignation of a great animal shelter director, Ashley Behrens. Ms. Behrens has done an outstanding job, for the last 5 years, in caring for the animals of Brookhaven, running the facility and turning it into what we know it today; as well as doing her part in saving the town money.

With Ms. Behrens gone, there are many concerns that do, and should, arise when it comes to the well-being and future care of Brookhaven’s shelter animals. Those who know Ms. Behrens, or at the very least have seen the great progress made at the shelter during her time there, should realize her character and professionalism speak volumes for her and all she’s accomplished.

We the undersigned kindly request Ms. Behrens be reinstated as Brookhaven Animal Shelter Director, and Mr. Edward Romaine, Brookhaven Town Supervisor, reject her resignation effective immediately so that our town shelter can return to the great safe haven we've come to love.
