Recognized as one of the most successful Public Animal Shelters in the nation. A role model for all shelters!

  • 96.9% placement rate
  • Average stay for dogs 8.5 days
  • Average stay for cats 20 days

A record unheard of within public animal shelter history

Its All About the Animals

Two employees are attacking the fine character and clear accomplishments of

  • Co-Founder and Director of PASF; Valerie Fausone
  • Co-Founder and Executive Director; Jeff Charter
  • Devan Amundsen; Certified Dog Trainer and Behavior Consultant Dog Care Coordinator.

The hostile work environment created undermines the mission of our shelter, to provide Petaluma’s animal with a safe, healthy and humane shelter and adoption agency.

We ask the Petaluma Animal Services Foundation Board to protect our animals and preserve our shelter’s accomplishments by reinstating Valerie Talcott Fausone as Director of PASF.

We ask that Jeff Charter, co-founder of PASF, a longtime dedicated Animal Control Officer and Director of Finances be properly respected and his reputation and career restored by a retraction and apology by the Argus.

Accusations of mismanagement of funds and abuse of power in the Argus article December 21, 2017 have no basis proved by an independent auditor and will be corrected by better investigative reporting.

Devan Amundsen has been falsely accused of animal cruelty - allegedly by one staff member. This tarnishes his reputation and must be resolved.

The Board of Directors is respectfully asked to consider this petition and to retain and provide workplace counseling to facilitate better relations between staff, director and the Board.

Our shelter can continue to achieve excellence if provided with support the staff and Executive Director need to do their jobs.

Please help! Our Shelter’s future animals lives are dependent on us.

Mission: “To Provide Hope and Homes to Animals in Need!”

We hit two hundred and fifty signatures today. It has been a long and draining week but seeing this level of support keeps me moving forward.

The exhaustion is setting in but watching the numbers climb keeps me going. We are nearing the next threshold and I need you to push this link out to your circles before the momentum dies away.

The days have been long and the news cycle is draining but we are gaining traction. We need to hit that hundred signature mark to show the board that we are not going to be ignored. I am exhausted by these false accusations yet I refuse to let our shelter fall because of them.

This is an amazing shelter and has been run beautifully! Please make sure nothing happens to turn this in to a kill shelter! It would be devastating for the animals as well as our community.

I have donated to this shelter and visited it many times! It is truly a role model for what a shelter should be! They care about the animals!

I have had nothing but positive interactions with the shelter. Devan has worked so hard with my animals in a loving and supportive way.

I often donate to this shelter. Every time I have been there the animals are well taken care of. It appears very transparent when I am there. They have had great turn over and support the adopters and adopters. There should be more shelters like this.

I have had positive results from both of these people. When it came to help finding my lost dog and how to go about it. To helping me with a community cat. Both experience I will never forget. Jennifer Harris

I adopted my dog 5yrs ago from PASF because of Valerie Fausone we have been involved ever since, I have baked cakes for the bake sale and been to lots of fundraising events, we send money every month to support this wonderful shelter because Valerie makes us feel like family since day one! We have decided not to support the Shelter until Valerie’s returns!
