London North East Conservatives: Reinstate Andrew Curtin, Cabinet Member for Culture in Havering as a candidate in the 2014 local elections. Explain why a Councillor of such calibre has been deselected in such an undemocratic manner.
This petition has NOT been created by Andrew Curtin or any of his affiliates. This petition has come directly from the community. A community that are angry that our votes and support have been taken for granted and undermined. This is not about party politics, it’s about democracy.Whether you are a Havering resident or a Conservative voter shouldn't matter. This is a fight for a man that has worked hard for his community for over 15 years. Andrew is not only a key figure within Romford but has done inspirational work for the artistic community of Havering. He has paved the way for innovation and grassroots activities whilst protecting traditional values. Andrew isn't a hands off Councillor who can't find the time to remember your name or answer your calls. Invite him to an event and he will sit on the floor next to all the artists, engage in conversation and appreciate culture with everyone else. He is also one of the only Councillors to have taken a voluntary pay cut.
Andrew was thrown out as a candidate of the Havering Conservative party. Why?! Well no one can seem to give an honest or reasonable explanation. With accusations of rigged ballots we, as riled residents are not only fighting for someone who has supported our community but we are demanding that our local Council demonstrates transparency and honest democracy!
Please sign this petition in support of Councillor Andrew Curtin. We believe he has earnt the right to stand in the 2014 elections - and if the people deem him deserving enough he can serve his community with his usual inspiring and committed ways!

I do not like getting rid of people for no good reason.I have e-mailed andrew on serveral times and have always had promp replys and taken an interest unlike when I have e-mailed the council itself and never get an answer. I too would like an explanation why he has been deselected.
Andrew has always supported the residents at Gibson court and was a godsend when a planning application was made to change an office into flats overlooking our communal garden. We only have to ask for help and Andrew will always be there for us.
Andrew is a very caring and hard working person and should be reinstated as a Conservative candidate immediately. I can see people dropping the Conservatives and voting against the party if this ridiculous situation is allowed to carry on.
Andrew Curtin is great person and a great councillor. As a councillor he is respected by people of all races and colour. I am of Indian origin and I have always found him to be kind understanding and very helpful. He should be reinstated as a candidate for 2014 Local elections
I am NOT a conservative supporter but have found Andrew Curtin to be a very approachable and supportive councillor. It is very disappointing that he is no longer available as a councillor. Perhaps he should stand as an independant.
Shame he wasn't re-elected, as he appear to be attentive to local issues.
Andrew is the only councillor visible in his ward, does much for the environment, is accessible to residents and listens to their concerns, doing what he can to help.

I would like to support the request to reinstate Andrew Curtin as he has worked so hard to the people of Havering especially in relation to the arts, culture, parks and libraries. He will be hard to replace and to drop him makes no sense.
