Following a banner drop at the Liberal Democrat Conference on Friday 16th September, Edward Bauer was arrested, charged with Road Traffic Offences and held in custody for 10 days. Despite not having been convicted for any crime, the Guild of Students decided to suspend him "indefinitely" from his role as Vice President Education "with immediate effect".
We, the undersigned, believe that
1. Edward Bauer should not have been suspended from his job before trial or before disciplinary investigations have proven any offences against the Guild of Student’s Code of Conduct. This is unjust not only to him, but also compromises - on unjustifiable grounds - student representation in matters affecting their education. He should therefore be reinstated with immediate effect.
2. It should lie in the powers of students to hold their officers to account. The findings of the disciplinary panel should therefore report to the next Guild Council and the judgment of any findings or displinary deemed necessary should be taken by a democratic vote of students.

I am honestly overwhelmed by the momentum we are building as we get closer to five hundred signatures. This strength comes entirely from all of you taking a stand. If we keep this pace up today we might hit that milestone sooner than I ever thought possible.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up to support Edd. We are nearing a hundred signatures and if everyone here could send the link to just a few more people it would put us in a much stronger position.

Total overreaction. Let the man do his job.
Justice for Edd! The guild is acting like a dictatorship.
Ridiculous to suspend someone before they even go to trial. Innocent until proven guilty exists for a reason.
Honestly shocked they can just suspend an elected representative without a vote. We need him back in the office now.
This is completely unfair. He was voted in by us so he should be removed by us not some secret panel. Bring him back.
