We, the undersigned, ask St. John's City Council, to review laws surrounding use of fireworks in our city.

On holidays when fireworks are used, they can be seen and heard for long periods of time, before and after midnight.

The noise in particular causes great stress among people and pets alike.

People suffering from PTSD, living with autism, the elderly, to list just a few groups, are greatly distressed on these occasions.

Many pets are traumatized, requiring medication or other measures. Each of those occasions, there is a rise in missing pets, as they run away to seek cover. Our pets need to be respected and protected.

For the protection of vulnerable groups (human and animal) in our city, we feel that unlimited use of fireworks is unacceptable and we respectfully ask that a time restriction be placed on their use.
