im hearing so many stories from people experiencing the same unfair dress code enforcement and honestly it just proves how much this needs to change. im currently putting together a list of specific incidents to show the administration because they cant just ignore us when they see the evidence.

I over heard. 2 teachers say that look at that he pointed at a beautiful plus size girl he said i dont want to see that but then he pointed to a skinnyer girl also beautiful and said but i don't mind that
We really need to change the dress code because it goes towards females more than males. We are not able to express ourselves through our outfits without being dress-coded
Staff claims it for professional reasons but I don’t believe that for a second. It’s not just females! Me being someone who is not very fit and skinny, a girl who does not have meat or doesn’t show extra skin EVEN ON ACCIDENT won’t get in trouble. But me if I wear ripped jeans and my skin pops out I get bashed for it. I think that no matter size, or gender we should be able to express our personalities with what we know best; our cloths. Do I think their should be a limit, yes i do. I think that it’s school dress codes fault for females having such low confidence with their bodies. Making it seem like all guys want is physical features. Horrible way to teach a generation.
I went to PHS a few years back. The dress code seems to ONLY apply for girls at the school. Boys walk around with short shorts and ripped jeans and tank tops. The dress code is not only sexist, but it is also sexualizing young women and part of rape culture. Teach your boys not to look or touch instead of teaching your girls to cover up and cater to boys who are capable of controlling themselves!!
A body is a body. Not a distraction. You’re teaching people it’s right to sexualize things that aren’t by keeping this.

Strict dress codes specifically targeted to women are not good for the development of both young men and women. Strict dress codes teach young women to be ashamed of there bodies. Which isn’t something that young women should be taught. It is also very unfair that guys can wear almost anything and never be dress coded. I feel as though the school dress code specifically targets young women. We are now in 2019, therefore things such as the dress code should be changed. And young women should be allowed to dress as they please and express themselves also as they please.
