REDUCTION OF HOSTEL FEES TO THE SAME AMOUNT AS OF LAST YEAR AND IMPACT SECURITY OFF CAMPUS AS WELL IN KNUST

Let’s put politics aside! Let’s really get concerned about the welfare of the student. So many things affects us as students even in KNUST!
The rise in hostel fees is a totally irrelevant decision. They say it’s from the Staff or School Administration. Already there’s struggle with fees payment. About 40% of KNUST students are owing fees, does this not tell the school administration the people are already suffering, for you to add an increment in the sector of where the person will lay his or her head at night??
We need people who can stand up for what is right... even if it means against the administration.
The security issues in the school especially off campus since 80% of students on campus now will be coming to this same off campus vicinities should by now be the main priority of the administration, but what do we see? They’re just concerned about you paying your fees and registering your courses online... concerned about they preparing midsem schedules and letting you know come and write... concerned about letting you know they’re still in charge by cancelling certain benefits we were once getting. But as we get wounded beneath the surface, with no one seeing, is there no one to voice our pains out? Can no one really stand up to the administration for what is right? How can we be the future leaders? Future leaders in these states? Why should their focus be on only the high class sector of students?What is the ratio of high class sector to the middle class to the low class sector in the school? Is education gaining really supposed to be expensive??
No one is calling for war or violence, but when grievances are not met... we need an action that makes them see our small shinning light even from afar, because as little as it is it carries a lot of weight of concerns.
We are going to stand against these struggles... FORGET POLITICS. We only need you and I! Let us get another note to the school authorities... to those in charge... “We certainly cannot can anymore”. We shall not relent until we’ve seen results. But we’ll do well to play by the books first. Anyone interested should join this train and sign this petition. And let’s together see a bit of change if not a humongous one in KNUST before it’s done and dusted. With a Heavy heart.. burdened with worries and sleepless night, scared for some parents of KNUST students I ask.. are you ready to fight for justice??

The current level of support has prompted a formal request for a meeting with the administration regarding the hostel fee structure. My team is drafting a detailed proposal to address off-campus security lapses and we expect to present these grievances during our discussion next week.

Hostel fees should not be increased! All off campus hostels must have conducive study rooms. So that students won't go to campus to learn and return at night, which is not safe.
Yes! Hostel fees must drop.,They only about the money that will get but no our security. About 99.99% of hostels don't have light in front and around the hostel only inside. Drop hostel fees and improve our security Bamm
The hike in prices of hostels start with GUSSS and that has always been the motivation for private hostel owners. Shouldn't the University work on GUSSS first ? And yes, should private owners not look at the fact that not all families are well-to-do with and can afford huge sums for accommodation for a ward?
The exorbitant hostel prices leave my single mother sleepless. Always going for loans for hostel fees... it's really heartbreaking as some people have now made this a way of amassing wealth at the expense of our sound mind and freedom to continue with life as if there's nothing to worry about.
Hostel fees are even costly than academic fees . And yet our lives are being under attack day in and day out . Robbery and even to the extent of stabbing . We are sick and tired of all these . We need a CHANGE and we need it NOW
