In the 2021-2022 academic year York Regional District School Board (YRDSB) have closed schools 3 times due to inclement weather. Only one of these times was actually warranted, when the weather was bad due to a major snow storm. While the other two days may not have been sunny, the weather was far from warranting a closure. The majority of school boards in Southern Ontario did not have closures during these days. We would like for YRDSB to change their policies, follow Toronto's school board example, and not trigger school closures unless a major weather event happens.
Waking up at 5:30 to check the news just to find out everything is shut down for a light dusting is getting real old. Stop being so cautious it hurts the students.
