We, the undersigned, hereby Petition the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and the Planning Commission of the City of Saratoga Springs to formulate and implement a plan to effectively abate the increased noise pollution to our community being caused by the increased traffic on Redwood Road.

Specifically, we are concerned about the increase in the noise pollution caused by the elevation of Redwood Road during the recent construction to widen the road to accommodate an increase in motor vehicle congestion. As part of this construction process, some portions of Redwood Road have the elevation raised up to ten (10) feet making the previous noise abatement measures ineffective.

The recent construction on Redwood Road making the existing noise abatement measures ineffective and the increased congestion of motor vehicles has dramatically increased the resulting noise pollution to our community and the adverse effects are threefold: (1) the physical and mental health of the members of the community; (2) the quality of life we have grown accustomed to in Saratoga Springs; and (3) the property values in the community.

Please don’t make the roads closer to our homes! It’s not only dangerous but extremely noisy.

While the thrust of this petition clearly centers on noise abatement, the oversized, crushed rock haulers not only exacerbate the noise but also represent an obvious threat to our public highway safety, if not wisely regulated.

My house is right against Redwood Rd near Grandview. Multiple steps could be taken to reduce noise including walls, reduced speeds, and traffic management.

At certain times of the day, I feel like I have to yell to be heard in my own back yard from just a few feet away. Always been frustrated since the road was widened.

The noise pollution is increasingly getting higher. Other means to make it to and from Saratoga and Eagel Mountain need to be put into action
