Refuse the planning application for the Recovery Day Centre next to the nursery. Keep our children safe.
The City Council is planning to open a Recovery Day Centre near our Nursery, when we say near we mean we share one wall with them.
Leicester City Centre has a high crime rate and many street drinkers. The council is planning to increase the hazard by bringing into the area street drinkers who are alcohol dependant and homeless. These individuals usually have anger issues and their language can be unsuitable for children's ears... they can be involved in fights fuelled by alcohol and could also use drugs..... definitely unsuitable to be around young children.The location they have chosen is between a day nursery and a day centre for elderlies. Nearby there are stores for children's uniforms and local shops already struggling with the intimidation and bad manners and language together with the crimes in the area. A large number of young families use the area and also take their children when there are fairs and food stores. We believe the children safeguarding should be the first thing the council should prioritise, together with the survival of the businesses in the area. Survival that would not be guaranteed if this went ahead.

Seeing this much support for our children makes the exhaustion of this fight feel almost manageable. We have enough momentum now that the council can no longer pretend we are just a handful of worried parents.

This is a direct quote from the mercury "The council ditched its initial plans to set up the new centre in the city's New Walk after outcry from residents and councillors who said it would lead to anti-social behaviour in the historic route." They are already aware of the problems this will cause so move it to an area where regular people and children will not be at risk of antisocial behaviour.
A recovery centre right next to a pub? Don't tell me there is temptation everywhere, yes there is but right at their front door? Next to a pub that has alcoholics standing outside from 9am, next to were my child goes to nursery????? This area is already run down and has a lot of alcohol and drug misuse, and now your going to use a building in an alley way for them to all congregade along as I am taking my child to nursery and picking her up?...... of all the buildings in the city

Well played council, really thought this one through. Place a recovery center (Basically Rehab) right inbetween drug central Braunstone and an all day pub, then get a nursery get caught in the crossfire. Where's the common sense in that? *SlowClap*
Not happy at all about this my son attends this nursery.
Children should not be exposed to this type of thing.
Move the centrecout of the city, its nr age concern and a nursery vunerable kids and elderly

The number of vulnerable people, young and elderly, in this neighbourhood already makes this an inappropriate place for the proposed service.
