At The Village Nursery and Pre-school, we consider the safety of the children a fundamental part of our job and strive to keep children healthy, happy and safe.
We are located on Stockport Road in Gee Cross, Hyde. This road is very busy and vehicles often pass at high speed. We have done everything possible to put things in place inside the building to keep children from getting out onto the road unattended and are lucky enough to have a car park which enables parents to deliver their children to us and pick them back up safely.
However, we feel that more needs to be put into place on the road to warn motorists of little people coming in and out of the building, attempt to slow vehicles down and stop our children from running directly into the road.
Tameside Council have objected against putting up 'Slow Down' signs and a barrier on our pavement. We are disappointed that they will not support our request to prevent any accidents happening by putting traffic safety measures in place.
We are going to take this matter to our local MP and would appreciate your support by singing this petition.

I spent the morning watching traffic rush past our nursery and it keeps me up at night knowing these cars are inches from where our children play. We are finalizing our letter to the local MP to show them exactly why these safety barriers are a necessity rather than an inconvenience. Your stories keep me motivated when the council continues to ignore the very real risk to our families.

Seeing this kind of momentum building behind my nursery family gives me real hope that we can finally get the council to listen. I worry about those children every single time a car flies past our front door, so your support means the world to me.

my niece goes to this nursery and i worry constantly about the cars flying past. please just put the signs up!
RIDICULOUS. fix the road before a kid gets killed. the council are never listening when we actually need them to.
Every time I walk past here with my toddler I am terrified by the traffic speed. Its just common sense to have a barrier.
stockport road is a nightmare at school run time. so many cars ignore the speed limit, someone is gunna get really hurt
Total joke that the council wont help. Do they want a tragedy before they listen? Put some gates up already.
