We, the community at Rutherford House School, call on Will Norman, The Cycling Commissioner, to reconsider the decision to relocate a bus stop outside the school and ask that another location be considered.
This is an uncommon place to locate a bus stop and is causing great concern for teachers, parents and children of Rutherford House School.
The reasons why we are making this request:
- The school is located on a main road - at closing and opening times the pavement becomes very congested, especially with the added footfall from the bus stop.
- As a result of this bus stop's relocation, children and parents are being forced to stand in the cycle lane and road at the start and end of the school day because of how busy it is.
Totally at odds with the School Streets and school pollution reduction initiatives that other local schools are hugely benefitting from. As well as obvious public health and safety concerns. This should never have been approved in the first place.
