I support naming
the intersection of Westwood Boulevard and La Grange Avenue "Raymond Fouquet
Square" in memory of local resident, restaurateur and Velo Club La Grange founder Raymond Fouquet.
Seeing this momentum grow for Raymond makes me think about how much he truly meant to the cyclists and neighbors who gather at that corner. It is overwhelming to see his name carry this much weight in our community.

Raymond had a unique contribution to the sport of cycling. The original cyclists who rode from La Grange and Westwood ultimately became Velo CLub La Grange, a cycling club of over 500 members who provide substantial charitable and recreational resourcres to the westside.. It is very fitting that Raymond's contribution be recognized with the 'Aymond Fouquest Square designation.

Not only does this honor a deserving neighborhood personality, but this also contributes a mark of distinction to the entire neighborhood.

I knew Raymond Foquet for 25 years, as a member of Velo Club LaGrange, which he founded, and as a cusotmer at his restaurant. He was a wonderful man, and very deserving of this honor.

Raymond has a legacy that is a growing part of the L.A. story. Such dedications are about honoring such legacies. In 1895, Los Angeles was a US bicycle capital. Raymond play a vital role of rebuilding that in the 2nd half of the 20th Crnturyand what we are now reclaiming in Los Angeles.

We see riders with "LaGrange" emblazoned on their jerseys all over LA. We need to show where that LaGrange is rooted.
