We, the undersigned pilots and friends of aviation hereby petition the Lafayette Airport Commission to officially add "Paul Fournet Field" to Lafayette Regional Airport's name. Thus making it known into the future as Lafayette Regional Airport, Paul Fournet Field.
The momentum for Paul Fournet Field is undeniable. It is clear that our aviation community is firmly behind this tribute.

Paul Fournet, my uncle, was a distinctly charitable soul who, many times to his own detriment, gave and gave and gave both to his fellowman and to/for this city. Thank you, friends, for even considering doing this for him. CF

Paul Fournet laid the foundation of air transportation needs for the oil industry. Meeting these demands led to expansion of the airport. The evolution of the Lafayette Airport to what it is today can be accredited to Paul's foresite. He is owed that recognition.

I strongly support adding "Paul Fournet Field" to the Regional Airport's name. After my dad returned from WWII, Mr. Fournet was involved in helping him obtain his pilots license. He always spoke highly of Mr. Fournet.

I used to ride my bike to the airport as a kid just to play around the airplanes, Paul saw me in the hanger, called me over, put me in one of his 172,s and gave me my first plane ride. Built a great career from the airport with Paul's help and freindship.

Mr. Paul Fournet IS responsible for Lafayette haviing an airport, is nearly a literal truth. ANY honorable recognition that may be given him is well deserved. This effort is one of those ab out which we say, "better late than never!" The airport should be named in his honor.

What a great idea to honor an Acadiana Aviation icon.
