Quiet Zone Summer Street Crossing, Lifestyle and Safety Enhancements

We, the undersigned affix our signatures in support of the petition for a Quiet Zone for the Summer Street railroad crossing located in South Walpole, Massachusetts. We recognize that the Federal Railroad Administration will evaluate the Summer Street Crossing, prior to the Quiet Zone implementation, to ensure that the crossing would be as safe, if not safer, than with the usage of horns/whistles.
In order to provide additional safety measures for our children, this petition also includes but is not limited to the employment of a crossing guard, during school days, at the Summer Street Railroad Crossing before and after school hours of Boyden Elementary School.
We petition that these measures be implemented despite the status of the new MBTA Pilot Program to Foxboro.
Please include your full first and last name along with your address in the comments section for submittal to the Board of Selectmen.

I believe that the use of these tracks for transportation to The Patriots Place and The Existing Schaffer Stadium is creating very unsafe conditions and is not beneficial to the Town of Walpole, MA It is a disaster waiting to happen
6 Shufelt Road, South Walpole, MA The loud horns from the trains are causing the residents of this community a lack of sleep. Our home environments should be places that are conducive to restful sleep. We need a “Quiet Zone” for our health. A lack of sleep can cause harm to our bodies and minds. Thank you.
The train whistle is totally unnecessary and extremely disruptive to this once quiet, peaceful neighborhood. Our lives are in turmoil and our home values are plummeting .
While the need for safety is our top priority with the frequency of the Kraft Pilot Program trains that constantly run through our backyards, the lack of sleep and disturbances that the constant ringing of bells and whistling of horns is negatively impacting children, teens and adults in the area. A lack of sleep is proven to cause slower reaction times and diminish productivity as well as lower immune systems, to state just a few important concerns. A Quiet Zone will still allow for the safety of everyone in the area of the railroad crossing, as well as increase the overall atmosphere and decrease the serious issue of sleep disturbances due to the trains.
The gates are there as a safety measure. No need for the horns. They’re unbearable.

Between the freight trains & the commuter trains there isn't 3 hours horn free day or night. Sleep is impossible.
