Current Federal railroad safety laws require railroad operators to blow the whistle for every grade level crossing. With the recent addition of lights, local alarms and gates at the grade level crossing of Hwy 67 and Wisconsin & Southern railroad in Walworth, WI, we believe that safety measures are being taken to prevent accidents and the quality of life would improve by creating a quiet zone for this crossing. Signors of this petition request that the Village of Walworth Board of Trustees request a safety review in conjunction with the railroad, Federal Railroad Administration and the Wisconsin DOT in order to create a local ordinance requiring a quiet zone for this crossing with the exception of emergency situations.
