The government finally caved and the Mt Warning summit track is being reopened to the public. We forced the bureaucrats to stop blocking our access to this incredible place. Keep your eyes peeled to ensure they actually follow through on the maintenance and signage they promised.

To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly, we request the government reopen the Mount Warning (Wollumbin) Summit track, allowing all Australians and our visitors, to continue appreciating this world class environment and natural attraction. In the words of Marlene Boyd, local area Ngarakwal Nganduwal elder, "How can the public experience the spiritual significance of this land if they do not climb the summit and witness creation?"
NPWS website states “There’s a nature walk for every style of bushwalker in NSW national parks. Whether you’re a social walker, more of a well-balanced traveller, a brave adventurer, or a wise explorer, you’ll enjoy the experiences available on many of our best nature walks”. Mt Warning Summit track is one such walk, catering to all walker’s needs.
The descendants of the first Australians are not the only people with a sense of spiritual connection to the land. Mt Warning was dedicated as a National Park for the benefit of all Australians to experience with respect. The summit track attracts 170,000 visitors annually.
We request the parliament installs relevant signage among other initiatives to promote reconciliation and understanding of local indigenous culture in our community, including the significance of the mountain. The track should be maintained with safety at the final summit section easily improved. The Mount Warning Summit is a beautiful, natural, healthy, experience providing a unique appreciation of our culture, environment and an opportunity to appreciate this special land we have.
We request the Mt Warning Summit Track be reopened.

More transparency & consultation is needed with local residents on this, as apparently the actual local Indigenous group want it Re-opened but are not being listened to but a group from a long way further south is advocating for the lock out!
My father took us up the mountain when I was 7 in 1963. I would have liked my 4 grand kids to have had this wonderful experience. National Parks were set aside for the enjoyment of the people and to preserve nature for future generations. That's all people.
Climbing Mt Warning in darkness to see the sunrise is an amazing experience. If the site has historical significance then educating climbers would be a welcomed. If the maintenance is expensive then charging a fee to cover the upkeep would be fair.
I climbed Mt Warning when I was a kid and my grandparents lived at Uki. I still remember the view that first time and I have been back 3 times since. I want my grandkids to be able to enjoy this natural wonder. Aren’t national parks for all Australians?
We need more hikes up mountains not less - please reopen. Consider closing it to the general public just on special sacred days when ceremonies are happening. And keep it open the rest of the time to everyone. The national/state Parks are for all Australians.
Climbed up there so many times as a child camped on top overnight I hope it gets reopened want to walk up there again before i cant anymore
The mountain has been wrongfully closed due to the NSW government fettering its discretion to an Aboriginal interest group. This is plain wrong. Wake up Australia to the public land hand back that is quietly destroying our pastimes, culture and freedom.

If the place holds such significance, get input from the local elders to put a shrine or memento so that visitors can learn and acknowledge the connection. That way all area able to experience the beauty and pay respect to an ancient culture.
