In ward 5 we have just one outdoor hockey rink , and in recent news that rink will be closing after this year. Lets take back our Mike Zuke memorial rink in Bay View on Spadina and Pittsburgh Avenue! Together as a community we can maintain this rink, we can work together for our youth of ward 65 Physical activity is huge these days, we need our kids out there playing everyday!
With your signature , we can show that we together WANT our rink back, we together will work to make it happened, and maybe the city will reconigize and help us out on this venture!
Mike Zuke was a very big part of Sault Ste Marie hockey and the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds. The history alone is enough to res erect this outdoor public rink!

The scale of this response confirms the community demand for the rink. I am organizing a formal meeting with the parks department to present these signatures and propose a maintenance plan.

my friends and i grew up playing hockey on the bayview rink..neighbourhood kids need a place to play...keeps them from playing hockey on the streets and in line of traffic..
Mike Zuke Sr was one of my coaches when I was 14. He always built a rink for his kids and their friends to play on. I cannot express the importance of having free ice to play on every day. Please do not let rinks like this die off. The work involved pays off in a lifetime of amazing memories
I live at 229 spadina right across the street from where the rink was I have kids involved in hockey that love to skate there are lots of kids that would use this rink I would volunteer my time to help out to get this rink up and going for kids
Please reopen this rink - the west end needs it! Even with the Merrifield rink open there are many kids in bayview and surrounding neighbourhoods who would benefit. Merrifield is usually to busy to even find parking in the winter - another rink is needed..
My husband and i lived in the west end for years and our boys always went and played hockey at Mike Zukes rink. My husband and i even worked the canteen there those kids need the rink back instead of playing hockey on the streets plus they'll have a place to warm up
Loved that rink. I was on "the rink crew" as a child. Need to bring this back.

Grew up playing on this ice. As a teenager my friends and I spent many hours even late at night maintaining the ice. No reason this can't be done again. Great location. Big rink shack. It's was a shame to see it close after it was dedicated to an icon on this community.
