Let's not lose our public footpath that connects Meadows Avenue with Gordon Street, Bacup!

This footpath allows parents and school children to access more safely the two schools in this area. Also, with the lack of horse riding paths in this built up area it is used by horse riders to avoid the main road (Burnley Road) to gain access to the Rossendale Way.

After complaining to both Rossendale Council and Lancashire County Council due to a safety issue when mechanical diggers started to dislodge the cobbles on the pathway during an initial site clearance of Japanese knot weed prior to house building. This excavation caused the land around this footpath to be unsafe and fencing was erected making it very difficult for parents to push their prams along the path let alone ride a horse along it.

The council have replied to the complaint by stating they need to assess how many local people are affected by the current state of the footpath and how many would be affected should we lose the footpath.
