Emperor Way Cycle Path - Fishbourne Chichester West Sussex
The "Emperor Way" Cycle Path passes across the back of the Roman Palace at Fishbourne in Chichester. For the past 17 years it has provided a safe off road route for cyclists and pedestrians heading to and from local schools and Chichester Centre. It also forms a key part of the National Cycle Network Route 2 running the length of the South Coast of England.
Earlier in the year the Roman Palace, one of the sites owned by The Sussex Archaeological Society, announced their intention to close the route which resulted in significant reaction from the community. After public meetings and meetings between Fishbourne Parish Council, The Trustees of the Roman Palace agreed that the decision to close the route would be deferred for a year to allow further work to be undertaken in seeking either a solution or an alternative safe route to be found.
A task group has been set up by The Fishbourne Parish Council and it is vital that the views and opinions of local residents, cyclists and pedestrians are captured through this petition. This will provide the Task Group with not only the views of the local community but also give them the confidence that they are truly representing these views at all meetings.

i cycle this into chichester for work. 17 years tells you everything, people rely on this.
so many people walk their dogs here too. leave it alone.
DONT CLOSE THE PATH. It is literally my only way to get anywhere without a car.
my kids use this path to get to school every day. so much safer than the main road with all that traffic. keep it open!
used this for years, it would be a massive shame to lose such a good community link. sort it out.

Ridiculous decision. This is a vital route for so many local people and it makes no sense to block it off now.
