Dear Mr Schrager,
Congratulations on your new hotel, Public, on the Lower East Side. When you testified at Community Board 3 about the property, you talked about being a good neighbor and that you were a "downtown" person. Now you have lit up this neighborhood with your gigantic two sided sign shining uptown and downtown. This is not art. It is advertising. This is not Vegas or Times Square. This is our home.
We, the undersigned ask that you turn out the lights and stop creating light pollution for your neighbors.

We fought for 2 years to get an oversized sign turned off at Bowery and 1st St, and it was only 6 feet high. This gigantic sign is VISUALLY UGLY and disturbing in the amount of light pollution it emits.
Came out to enjoy my rooftop and your sign assaulted my view. Please turn the lights off. This has no place down here and away from Times Square. It boggles my mind this ever got past the zoning board and is an eyesore.
Given the fact that there was absolutely no public review of this behemoth and that it will be casting a monstrous, unwanted shadow over our low-rise historic community, the irony in the name is just too rich for words.
This neighborhood is home to communities and residents long before this hotel appeared. Commerce in the area occurs at street level and does not seek to fill the skyline with brash advertising that is not appropriate here. Kindly reconsider your environment with respect for those whose call this neighborhood - home.
It was bad enough that the 10 Stanton Street tenants were forced into a Sophie's choice of loosing their affordable apartments or your towering hotel. Now we have to see that garish sign looming over the neighborhood! Get rid of it.
This is a disgrace go back uptown
This is not Times Square. One ruling for lighting like this can pave the way for numerous other developers. We don't need any more advertising here. Stay uptown!

This is an illegal billboard. Just as there are billboards shuttered along highways in NYC under Bloomberg that were found to be operating without a license or any sort of permit, so should this sign be deemed illegal. Please remove it.
