The new La Jolla Tennis Club lights have seriously and negatively impacted the evening and night time ambience of the village. The new lights are not compliant with California or San Diego municipal light pollution codes and were installed November 2020. The lights were changed to high luminescent unshielded LED lights and create extreme glare and light pollution. Please sign this petition to have your voice heard. We respectfully ask the board of directors to work with their neighbors to develop a mutually satisfactory solution.

The glare of the new lights directly shines into our second story windows of our residence on the west side of Prospect Street

I am fortunate enough to have enjoyed nighttime tennis at the Rec Center in the past and commend the city for upgrading to LED lights. Sadly the new lights are not properly shielded and add significantly to light pollution marring the nighttime beauty of our village. Our city government has generally supported projects and programs that enhance the beauty and accessibility of public spaces. I encourage our city to find a way to properly shield the lights. Thank you

Hugely intrusive. Surely there is less glaring illumination available.

We are directly affected and strongly support a reduction and glare.

In the distant past, I was a regular Rec Center "rat", playing there several times a week. While I feel a strong positive sentiment towards the LJTC, the night lights are a little over the top. They dominate the scene looking west from our home. Hopefully, they can be turned down so as to be less disruptive.
