THE SCHOOL BOARD OFFICIALLY REVERSED THE POLICY AND OUR TEACHERS ARE SAFE!! I AM ABSOLUTELY THRILLED THAT MERIT IS FINALLY BEING PRIORITIZED OVER SENIORITY!! STAY VIGILANT AS WE WATCH THEM IMPLEMENT THESE NEW EVALUATION STANDARDS TO ENSURE THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN!!

L'Anse Creuse High School has a policy that allows for teachers to be displaced (fired) because of a lack of seniority over others. The teachers performance and record have nothing to do with this displacement and as long as another teacher has seniority over them, they will be displaced. The teachers with seniority may have a blemished record and their performance scores may even be less than the displaced teacher's, but because of their seniority they stay. This is wrong, a teacher should never be fired because of the amount of years they have worked at a place, but instead it should be based on how well they do their job. There are other schools with this policy, but currently LCHS is losing amazing teachers because of this policy and someone needs to take a stand against this before all we have left is teachers who are lacking in skill and are only here because of the amount of years they have.

It's ridiculous you would think the school would want better teachers which would result in better test scores which would promote more parents to have their kids go to our school which would also give the school more money. Better teachers = benifical for school
Mrs. St. Aubin took us to Peru. She gave me the best experience I've ever had and helped me speak Spanish to native speakers. I've had her since 7th grade and seeing one of the best teachers go would be very heartbreaking
I wholeheartedly agree that high performers should be retained over those who "just" have tenure. My parents pulled us out of public school for this very reason. Sadly, it's the teachers' unions that drive the policy of protecting seniority over performance, not the school districts. Hopefully they get the message.
There are some amazing teachers with the drive to teach. This is regardless of experience. When it comes to skilled trades dealing with very sensitive subjects performance is more important than seniority.
I think that it is insane that the great teachers of our school are being displaced just because they have been here the least. I believe that the basis of being dicplaced should be based on the evaluations. L'Anse Creuse schools should want the best for their incoming and current students.
this is an especially backwards way of staffing a school that places nearly all of their focus on the test scores that kids push out for them instead of actual growth and development. I'm sure the teachers getting fired are still the last few who actually get kids passionate about their respective subjects and I would bet the grades coming from their classrooms clearly reflect that.
Ms. Scapini was one of the best teachers I've ever had! I would hate for her to lose her job, and hate even more so if other kids couldn't experience her amazing lectures.

In my high school years at LC 2010-2014, most the newer teacher were who I learned from the most. They're fresh out of school themselves so they still get it. They all deserve to keep their jobs that they worked hard to have and to keep.
