We are IN FAVOR of the Government Training Facility to be built in Queen Anne’s County. More information...
Here are the TRUE FACTS with regard to the Government Training Facility and the effect it will have on the area, environment, property values, etc.
Fact: This facility will provide 500 construction jobs as well as 500 new jobs upon completion in administration, academics, support
Fact: The facility will have a tremendous vegetative buffer area around it to absorb the majority of the sounds generated
Fact: Property values in the surrounding area should NOT be negatively affected
Fact: This facility will provide over $500,000 in county payroll taxes
Fact: The Federal Government will improve the roads, intersections, and any upgrades needed
We have done research regarding a very similar facility in Brunswick, GA.
The residents feel this facility is a great asset to their community. The crime rate is almost zero. The community has come out of 4 of the last 5 recessions at a rate twice as fast as the national average.
A Realtor that specializes in real estate in the area immediately surrounding the facility said real estate has actually fared better than other areas of the state in this most recent down turn in housing values.
When asked about the noise issue, she stated that with the noise mitigating structures and plantings that the government has utilized at that facility, most people don’t even know what the facility is let alone what they do inside. She indicated that occasionally there are explosions and gun fire but that it is far from disruptive and on par with what most rural communities experience during hunting season.

500 jobs is 500 jobs. Pretty simple math if you ask me. Bring it on.
We need the jobs in QA county badly. Been waiting for something like this for years. Stop the complaining and think about the future for once.
Having lived near federal sites before I can tell you they are quiet and very safe. This is a huge win for local business.
YES PLEASE. Property values will be fine. People worry way to much about change around here.
I really hope they keep the roads in good shape like they say. The traffic out here is already a nightmare during harvest season. But sounds like a good plan overall.

Good for the economy. Tired of driving so far for work.
