As a group of Glen Ellyn neighbors, we have joined together to request the Village Plan Commission and Village Board of Trustees NOT approve a Special Use Permit for the Diamante Montessori School to operate a private preschool in the historic stone church at the corner of Park and Hillside Avenue (625 Hillside Ave.) We are concerned that granting of this special use permit will irrevocably change the essential character of our neighborhood with a loss of open space and the historic stone church. We are concerned this matter is not being given proper due diligence to adequately assess concerns such as traffic, safety, water drainage and the future expansion of such a business. The Glen Ellyn residents who sign this Petition in Opposition value Montessori education, but believe that the proposed operations of this preschool are not a good fit for this location.
