To Senator Kyle McCarter and Representative Paul Evans:

Illinois State Route 4 is quickly developing on the north side of the city of Mascoutah. New retail businesses, a children's learning center, and several new residential subdivisions are among some of the recent developments. Route 4 is a heavily traveled route, including a steady flow of large commercial vehicles, and it is becoming increasingly dangerous to turn into and out of these side streets. The current speed limit reduction from 55 MPH to 35 MPH is not until AFTER entering this populated area. As a result, there have been several rear-end crashes that seemingly could have been avoided. Furthermore, the noise level of highway traffic accelerating and decelerating in the vicinity is excessive and disrupting to the residents. We respectfully request reducing the speed limit further north to Fuesser Road. This relatively small change will create a much safer environment for vehicular & pedestrian traffic and will greatly reduce noise pollution for the residents. Thank You!

I spent the morning documenting the traffic pattern at the Fuesser Road intersection to show the state how dangerous these speeds are for our families. Post the link to this petition on your Facebook page to ensure our local leaders see how many of us demand a safer road. Email Representative Evans today to insist that he prioritizes this change before another crash happens.

its a nightmare trying to turn out of our subdivision during rush hour. people fly through there at 60mph and dont care about anyone else. fix it before someone gets killed.

I drove this route everyday to drop my kids at the learning center and its terrifying. cars are always tailgating and people slam on their brakes last minute. way too dangerous.
