Speed limit on North Main Street in Morton, IL needs to change from 30 MPH to 25 MPH. This is for the North Main Street stretch between Jackson Street and Third Avenue. This part of North Main is residential and has had a drastic increase in the amount of children living and playing here over the past several years. This is a dangerous and potentially DEADLY area due to the amount of vehicles using North Main as a thru way to get to business areas on north west side of Morton since North Main now connects to East Courtland Street north of I-74. Speeding vehicles put children and residents living on North Main Street in jeopardy of serious injury and possible death because vehicles speeding take longer to stop and are harder to control. During the hours of Morton, IL Caterpillar's shift changes, it is the most noticeable and dangerous. Please take time to sign this petition to put our children and neighbor's safety a top priority.
