After eight years, the pond, at the entrance to the Sandra Freedman Tennis Complex on Davis Islands remains empty showing its visible rusting pipes. If it is 'cost-prohibitive' to repair the approximately 2-foot deep pond to its original beauty . . . can the City of Tampa please fill it with soil and plant greenery/shrubs that require little watering?
Children come (in trucks) during the weekend with skateboards and use the surrounding sidewalks and the pond as their 'skate park!' If there is an injury, who would be responsible?
Undoubtedly many staffers, spouses and other auxiliary people affiliated with the RNC will be heading over to the Tennis Complex to enjoy some tennis while they are here in August. Is this how we want them to remember our 'beautiful, waterfront tennis complex?'
I have been walking past that rusty eyesore every single day and it is becoming impossible to ignore the decay at our front entrance. The city officials remain silent for now but I am putting together a packet of these signatures to hand-deliver to their offices before the upcoming events arrive.

Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that I am not the only person tired of looking at those rusted pipes every time I walk to the courts. It feels validating to know so many neighbors agree that our entrance deserves better than a hazardous empty basin.

Finally someone said it. The entrance to our neighborhood looks like a dump.

Those kids on skateboards are gonna get hurt and then who does the city blame? Fix it.
