Eamon RyanTD, one of the Greens in the Irish Government, is planning to spend up to €20 million on introducing a postcode that is already 2 years overdue. The proposed Government system will only guide a satnav user to the centre of a townland even if that is on top of a mountain or in the middle of a lake.

On the 29th of January last, he also announced that he is now about to employ his 3rd set of consultants in 4 years to help him with the plans. The last set of consultants said that An Post would have to be paid €27 million to help them support something they do not need and even though it will not solve non unique addressing problems.

There is no need to spend this money. There is already a solution developed by an Irish Company which has been tested on Garmin SatNavs and will allow navigation to individual properties everywhere in Ireland...and all at a fraction of the cost of the Government's system.  PON Codes are ready to go!

Sign here to stop the Irish Government wasting scarce money on introducing a system that will be of no value to anyone using Irish roads - commercial vehicles, visitors, tourists an ambulance driver or even local people just trying to get to new places!
