STOP Premier Shawn Graham from spending MILLIONS of our PROVINCIAL TAX DOLLARS to open the Petitcodiac River Causeway until he addresses pollutants in the water and mud in front of Moncton !!!
Did you know that sewage lagoons generally offer BETTER sanitary treatment than the Greater Moncton Sewage Treatment Plant?! And that the WASTE WATER coming from this plant, along with TOXINS from three old dumps, are CARRIED INLAND BY THE TIDE and are CURRENTLY STOPPED by the causeway?
Plans to open the causeway will allow contaminated tidal saltwater and sediments to be carried 23km upstream to Salisbury, polluting even more of the watershed! And will destroy a clean freshwater ecosystem in the process!
Shawn Graham's government CHANGED LAWS to make this pollution transfer possible! This government's practice of changing laws to suit their own agenda has serious implications for other projects slated for this Province such as (1) Uranium Mining, (2) Tidal Turbine Power, (3) Nuclear Waste Storage Sites, just to name a few!
The MILLIONS of DOLLARS that will be spent on this FAKE RIVER RESTORATION PROJECT will take away desperately needed funding for our hospitals, schools, roads, seniors, etc.
Please support - by signing this petition - a Moratorium (suspension) on the Petitcodiac River Causeway Project until the pollution issues in front of Moncton are resolved. Do not allow this government to take shortcuts when it comes to protecting the environment!

Shawn Graham is forcing this reckless project forward despite knowing that he will be dumping toxic waste directly into our river system. I have spent the last few days digging through government records and their justifications for this disaster simply do not hold up against the facts.

This is just wasting money we dont even have. fix the roads first or put it towards the hospital. stop these projects.
Living near the river is already bad enough with the smell. opening it up will just push the toxic mud right into our backyards. NO WAY.
Save the river and keep the sewage where it is. how can they even consider this?!
MILLIONS of dollars for this? what a joke. our schools are falling apart and they want to pump sludge up the river instead. absolute madness.
Disgusting that they want to spread raw sewage upstream. have these people ever been to the river?? stay out of it!
