We have been unfairly robbed off our place of business after decades of operating in the same location, some of us having been there for over 40 years. This location was also specifically allocated to us and was upgraded with an observation deck for the purpose of allowing us to operate our businesses during the upgrading and beautification of Little India project back in 2009.

Despite this, City Hall (DBKL) Officers confiscated our stalls and possessions inside the stalls with no notice at 3 AM on September 17th. This date happens to coincide with the peak business month just before the Deepavali festivities, depriving us of a profitable business just before a festival celebrated by five of the seven of us. When prompted, the reason that was given to us regarding this relocation is that DBKL has plans to turn the place into a mini garden and that the order was issued by the Prime Minister's Department. Our representative has yet to see this letter despite numerous requests made to DBKL.

We have been asked to move to Kompleks Tun Sambanthan to continue operating our businesses but this isn't a viable option because of the lack of patrons to the place. All 7 of us are senior citizens above the age of 50 and we have worked for decades to build up our businesses at this location. We do not have the time, strength or financial freedom to develop our business once again at this new location.

Our request is a simple one, we want what is rightfully ours to be returned back to us so we can make a honest living The reason given to us for our relocation was that there were plans by DBKL to turn the place into a mini garden and that the order was given by the Prime Minister's Department.

I honestly cannot believe how many people are paying attention to what happened to our stalls now because it felt like we were shouting into a void for so long. Seeing all these eyes on the situation gives me a tiny bit of hope that maybe the officials might actually show us the letter they keep talking about instead of just hiding behind their desks.

The whole point of hawker/street food is that it is easily accessible to patrons. Authorities should find ways to facilitate it and exploit it for its tourist potential. No tourist/foreigner I know goes to Little India to see potted plants

Why DBKL? These small traders are making a small living for their families. If their work places are dirty or unhygienic, please summon them . Don’t take away their only livelihood.

I feel that is unfair to put the traders in this situation as most of them are running the business for more than a decade. And this traders have left a significant warmest gesture to all their customer and I am one of them humbly requesting to reconsider. Thanking you in advance.

Who authorised a 3am raid and deprived 7 innocent little traders of an approved specified allocated location. NO NOTIFICATION. The audacity to cite as directive of PM's Department. Why is the Mayor and DBKL silent with guilt?

I know many of these traders all my life, you can't simply come in and confiscate their livelihood!! They are senior citizens who have been trading for many years!!

kindly restore the stalls back at its original place as its conveniently situated for us to stop to buy our food on our way home as these stall foods are tastier n cheaper then restaurant foods. Please accommodate to our humble request & cater to our needs. Thank you
