The township board has officially responded to the petition volume by placing our proposal on their upcoming meeting agenda. I am currently drafting a formal brief to present our case for backyard zoning amendments during the public hearing phase.

I don't believe these chickens are doing any harm, In fact they are also a teaching tool of how to take care of you animals, getting eggs so to help support your family's nutricitional needs.

This is a ridiculously outdated ordinance and should be changed. As long as the chickens are confined to the backyard, there is no difference from having a cat or dog! Cats use flower/vegetable gardens for litter boxes, and dogs bark, etc. Chickens eat ticks, grubs, etc., and make no noise at all (minus the rooster). This needs to be re-thought!

The way it's currently zoned. My direct neighbor to my right has a herd of buffalo, and my direct neighbor to my right has cows, a pony, a donkey and all kinds of poultry, but us in between are not allowed even a few chickens. Common sense here only makes sense.

I live in Thompson Township and would love to have a small coop for four chickens one day in my yard! I have dreamed of this ever since my biology teacher showed me the joy of chicken keeping in high school a few years ago. If I could keep a few chickens in my yard one day, I would be so happy! Please allow backyard chickens!

I live in Thomson Township and support residents being able to have pet chickens in their yard. Chickens are also helpful with tick and bug control.

These chickens aren't hurting anyone, they don't have a rooster that wakes everyone up at 5:00 am, these chickens are pets because they can't have cats or dogs because of allergies. Please let them keep their beloved chickens.

I support the right of Esko residents to be able to raise chickens in their back yards.
