Let’s Bring Backyard Chickens to Round Lake!
We’re asking the Village of Round Lake to reconsider the current rules that ban backyard chickens—and we need your support to make it happen.
Allowing a small number of hens (no roosters!) can bring real benefits to our community:
- Fresh eggs right from our yards
- A fun and educational way for kids to learn about animals and responsibility
- A step toward more sustainable, local living
- Cleaner gardens (hens eat bugs and food scraps!)
Many nearby towns have made this work—and we believe Round Lake can too, with the right guidelines in place. We're asking for simple, responsible rules like:
✔️ A limit on hens (3–6)
✔️ No roosters
✔️ Clean, secure coops
✔️ Respect for noise and space
This is about more than just eggs—it’s about building a stronger, more self-reliant community.
If you believe families should have the choice to raise a few hens responsibly, please add your name and help us bring this to the Village Board.

Love animals and we should be able to care for them and show our children how to care for nature as well
My family and I had chickens when we lived in Gurnee and we loved it, we moved to Round Lake 2 years ago and would love to have a chicken coop again.
