We strongly believe that King Philip High School would be doing a great disservice to the current and future student athletes at KP High by not keeping Coach Bob Piotti on as head coach of the Boys Varsity Hockey team.

Coach Piotti has been head coach for KP High for 16 years.  During this period his teams consistently post winning records, have made several state tournaments and have won the highly competitive Hockomock division.

He has been a volunteer youth hockey coach for the King Philip Walpole Youth Hockey program for 20 years.  Despite numerous private leagues that would gladly pay Bob for his time and coaching skills, he remains committed to KPW’s public hockey program to help keep quality hockey available and affordable for area youth.  To this day he remains one of KPW’s most highly rated and well liked coaches in the organization.

Recently when a bunch of parents wanted to start a girls hockey program at KP it was Bob who volunteered countless hours to get the program off the ground doing everything from attending initial meetings, helping secure ice and uniforms, to running skills clinics until a head coach was hired.  The KP Girls hockey team just completed their second season and the future looks very bright for this young program.

Coach Piotti’s influence on area hockey players is unmatched.  We feel it would be a terrible mistake to let the complaints of a few sully the reputation of one of the most respected coaches in the area.

We respectfully request that the administration of KP High rescind their decision to not bring back Coach Piotti next season and immediately reinstate him as head coach of the KP Boys Varsity team.
