The Wantagh Board of Education is removing Keith Sachs as Head Coach of the Wantagh High School Varsity Football team.
To date:
- The Board has stated no reasons behind their decision
- The Board has not indicated that they plan to do so
- In this matter, The Board has egregiously failed in their duty as elected officials to keep their constituents and community members informed of their decisions and the rationale behind them.
Since he first became the Head Coach of the Wantagh Varsity Football team, Keith Sachs has done far more than teach student-athletes the game of football. To his players, Mr. Sachs has been a role model for how to play the game the right way. His teams have built a reputation as being among the hardest working in Nassau County, and more importantly, among the classiest in Nassau County. Mr. Sachs has been a positive influence on the high school athletes who have had the privilege to play for him. Many of his former student-athletes would attest that they were boys when they joined his teams and young men by the time their high school athletics careers ended, largely due to the impact that Mr. Sachs had on their lives.
This petition, directed at the Wantagh Board of Education, is in direct protest of the decision to remove Keith Sachs as the Head Coach of the Wantagh High School Varsity Football team and demands that he be reinstated to the Head Coach position which he has held and served with dedication and loyalty for over 15 years.
The silence from the Board of Education is exhausting and frankly unacceptable. I have been spending my nights reviewing the stories you all share here because they remind me why this fight is necessary despite the lack of transparency from the top.

Seeing this level of support reminds me that we are right to question the silence from the Board. It is draining to keep pushing against a wall but your response gives me the energy to keep going.

Coach Sachs is Wantagh football. Taking him out makes zero sense. Bring him back immediately.

My son played for coach sachs and he is a better man because of it. Unbelievable that they would just fire him without saying why.

Bring him back. 15 years of dedication and this is how they treat him? Disgraceful.

Coach Sachs is the best guy for the job. Hands down. This decision is a joke and hurts the whole community.

What a shame. He taught those boys respect and hard work. The board has lost their minds.
