We are approaching the one hundred signature mark which serves as the threshold for my formal request to the city council agenda committee. Please direct this petition to three residents of Las Cruces today so we can finalize the paperwork for our meeting request.

At one time, the City leadership was supportive of efforts to become a No Kill Community. We cannot become a No Kill Community if TNR is not endorsed and supported by both the City and County leadership and Animal Control entities. No TNR = FAILURE to achieve No Kill status!
Community cats, whether socialized or not!, need to be sterilized to stop the birth of more homeless cats. This began because people are irresponsible in allowing intact animals outdoors to breed. We need to care for them as this is a human-caused problem that is easy to correct and easy to prevent.
TNR is a great program and can only benefit the City of Las Cruces. There’s no downside to TNR and if there are citizens willing to volunteer to support and improve the lives of animals in need....why not? And if the City is only looking at the bottom line...TNR is more cost effective than trap and euthanize. Thank you.
I was on the committee that drafted the present Las Cruces city animal ordinance. It was a very good ordinance that included a workable TNR solution. Unfortunately, after the city legal staff and council "improved" the draft, what we were left with is pretty unworkable. Go for it!!!
Every city and community I have lived in had had a feral cat program such as this. They work. It takes time. But they work. FerLs also keep the rodent population down. It's a win /win situation.

I sign this in memory of my Great-Uncle & Great-Aunt, long time residents of Las Cruces. Animal lovers who have passed on.

This would help population, over crowded spaces, and would benefit the animals that get away from home and come back pregnant, and it would help pregnant animal mommas to not have babies in the extreme heat and have their young die out there.
