PETITION

We, the group of Restaurant and Takeaway Owners are hereby lodging our protest and are boycotting Zomato, Swiggy and Uber Eats for selling of our food items on these platforms.

The reason for initiating this action is the extreme level of losses that we are facing everyday and with every order that is received through these online food apps.

To elaborate on this, we all are paying upto 28% commissions + 40% to 50% discounts on food. Though the 10% of these discounts are shared by these food apps but even then we are collectively been deducted with 53% on most of the orders. This much deduction makes it totally unviable and loss making proposition for a food outlet.

This is also been observed that because of the monopolistic positioning of these online food apps in market, if any food outlet does not opt for these discounts then that food outlet stops to get orders. Also the footfall and on the counter sales are now negligible because customers are offered up to 40% to 50% off on food through these online apps .

We would like to request to these online food companies to withdraw their heavy discounting so that there should be the fair and level playing field for everyone and the small businesses does not fall prey to these monopolistic positioning of these online food apps.

We would also like to request Competition Commission of India to look into this matter very seriously and urgently to save the lakhs of families and employees which are at the stake of losing their daily livelihood and employment.

If our humble demands are not addressed and a mutual agreed solution is not found then all the Restaurants and Takeaway Owners across India will be keeping their businesses Off from these online platforms".

The feedback from restaurant owners across the country confirms that these unsustainable commission structures are threatening our collective livelihoods. We are currently preparing formal documentation for the Competition Commission of India to highlight the impact of these monopolistic practices. Staying informed and united helps us maintain the pressure required for meaningful administrative review.

They have made our lives easier by delivering our food, but the commission terms are unjustified. They should reduce their commissions and stop deep discounts from restaurant sides. Also they derive unreasonable and unethical products for marketing which are unauthentic as the algorithms are dubious. They should also share our data because we pay them for this, in fact we are paying them for stealing our customers.

This situatuon is vert critical. As incase we do online business we run in lose and incase we withdrawn from is online business still we run in lose. Now customers has started coming directly to outlet and after meal they they order it online to avail discount.

With hopes to do something in this line invested and opened a restaurant with a unique name Wakhra Swag. My restaurant started well but thanks to these online puppets and their discount competition and blackmailings.. The profit started dropping because of huge discounts. Had to close it due to these people.

The discounting offers is not sustainable for QSR industry and many people are shying away from this sector. This is not good. Online aggregators, should do the job of delivery alone and not to decide on the operations and finances. The payment has to be done on daily basis as huge amount of amount gets blocked and these platforms, enjoy with the interest proceeds.

I'm not against discount scheme by the aggregators but I'm against the high discount where the restaurant owner bear almost 70%. So I request to aggregators to equally shared the discount between the restaurant and the third-party so that the whole impact of deduction could be justify. This is a crusial time for both the parties so I believe in a mediate way where the restaurant owner run the online business without being loss and the aggregators keep growing in a real world.
