Petition background:
1) The YMCA-YWCA of
Greater Victoria (hereafter, the Y) implemented in November 2014 a new two-hour
time limit parking policy without adequately consulting with its members.
2) The Y management
implemented this major policy change without clearly communicating to its members
the reasons or justification for the change.
3) A two-hour time
limit is unreasonable and untenable for Y members who utilize the facilities
for more than two hours per visit, of which there are many.
4) Consistent with
the Y’s mission of community-centered engagement, the Y’s members should be
given sufficient opportunity to review and respond to any proposed parking policy
changes.
Petition:
We, the undersigned, are concerned Y members who
urge the Y management to immediately reverse the new two-hour time limit
parking policy and revert back to the previous three-hour time limit policy.
The two hour parking limit makes a plus membership useless for team sports as I have no time to use the facilities. Even trying to get a warmup done and play our regular games means quiting early to even get a shower. A lot of people like to stop in the restaurant afterwards to grab a bite to eat and chat but with the new timeframe that is not possible.
