On November 20th, IE's Architecture students recieved an e-mail titled: "FINAL EXAMS AFTER HOURS STUDY."

The e-mail states that, since the library won’t be open from Sunday, December 6th to Tuesday, December 8th, architecture students should "give 50 seats up to the rest of degree students in the architectural studios area." Although we fully understand the motives, this is completely unrealistic.

Considering that the number of architecture students actively using the studio at all times revolves around 80/90 people, the email is effectively asking us to double the intake of students in the studios, completely ignoring the number of people, models, materials and tools we already have there. Before this year's midterms, the studios were overflowing with architecture students only, and we had many space problems that week. Expecting 50 people more to enter and still work comfortably is impossible to think of. We of course are open to make exceptions depending on the amount of people there are, but judging by the amount of projects we are all undertaking, we cannot guarantee this at all.

For architecture students, having a studio isn't a whim or a compromise - it's a necessity. In any other university, studios and libraries are open 24/7 for each and every student to have a space to work in, and everyone gets the same treatment. The fact that IE decided to close a vital study area right before finals such as the library, should not result in architecture students having to compromise their own.

We understand that the university must make compromises, but this is not, and will not be, a feasible solution.

Hoping that our voices are heard,

All Architecture Students of IE University.
