Community colleges in NH are in trouble!
Dozens of news articles have warned the public about CCSNH administrators inflating their own salaries, laying off full time faculty and staff, exploiting underpaid adjunct professors, and spending millions on unproven software among other things during a budget deficit! We are feeling the affects of this first hand in the classroom. As engineering students this is as frightening as it is unacceptable.
House Bill 1274, will be heard Feb. 11th, 2016. This bill will establish a committee to investigate the board of administration that has overseen these colleges for the past 8 years. This is a first step in the right direction.

We believe it is important for the State of New Hampshire to invest in higher education, confident that the investment is yielding optimum results for the citizens and the economy of the state.
It has been 8 years since the establishment of the Community College System of New Hampshire as a self-governing body. Given that length of time and recent public and private discussions about the current state of the system- academic, financial, and administrative-we believe now is an opportune time to study the efficacy of the changes in the system.
Therefore, we, the undersigned, believe that HB 1274, which calls for the establishment of a comittee to study the efficacy of changes in the Community College System of New Hampshire is in everyones interest.

Curricula delivered by adjunct faculty at poverty-level wages, with no stability and no participation in the life of their departments, is basically a fraud perpetrated on the students and public - and on the adjuncts! It fits the definition of a racket. I speak as someone who taught as adjunct on and off for ten years.
This situation is effect me personally. I returned to school after more than twenty years hoping increase my chances of getting a better job. My plan was to have several instructors who would help get a better job. But with teachers changing quickly and some are not prepared to teach well. It is VERY VERY MADDING
As a recent graduate of class 2015 I have seen first hand the result of cutting educators. With professors having to cram different schedules in.place and not be available to offer classes that they use it it is now impacting future students.
It is shameful that- of all things- an educational institution is wasteful and not setting a positive example for students and indeed all the world by exemplifying integrity and efficiency
I have children who have experienced the poor quality adjunct teachers at the Concord NHTI-- we need to fix this!
In order to build a sustainable college system, this initiative is important to pass. It will give us the opportunity to build a stronger coalition of Administrators, legislators, board members, faculty and staff to strengthen our footprint on the lives of NH citizens.
I am a student at Great Bay Community College. I am concerned with the quality of future teachers at my school if the proper pay and quality of professors is not maintained.

Save NHTI! The IT program and professors are the best I've worked with in my frield, BAR NONE. They could make two or three times their salary in the private sector but they love what they do and do it well, even though they're badly understaffed and under budgeted while the uppers receive massive pay raises.
