Petition in Opposition to the construction of the McDonalds at Hazel Lane/Route 65
The Undersigned Residents of Sewickley Valley and/or Frequent Travelers on Route 65 strongly oppose the construction of a 24 Hour McDonalds Drive-Thru restaurant at the intersection of Hazel Lane and Route 65 in Edgeworth Borough. We believe that this project, if permitted, will result in major traffic congestion at the intersection of Hazel Lane and Route 65 and will exacerbate a dangerous condition to motorists and pedestrians at the site.
We urge the Edgeworth Zoning Hearing Board and Edgeworth Council to reject McDonalds request for a variance from Chapter 130 of the Code of the Borough of Edgeworth, and to reject the McDonalds application for conditional use approval.

I was just sitting at that intersection again watching the traffic pile up and it really feels like the borough is ignoring the obvious danger here. People keep telling me their personal horror stories about trying to turn out of Hazel Lane and it is clear that a drive-thru will just break this entire road segment entirely.

I really thought this might just be a blip on the radar but seeing how many people see the traffic nightmare coming at Hazel Lane is honestly wild. My brain is already spinning thinking about the zoning meeting and how we are actually going to get them to listen to us about these dangerous road conditions.

That intersection is a nightmare already. Add a drive thru and nobody will ever be able to turn onto 65 safely again. Bad idea.
We don't need a 24 hour fast food restaurant in Sewickley. Aren't there A LOT of problems with the one down the road in Bellevue?
Route 65 is already congested and pulling on and off is hazardous. Another high-traffic destination such as this is all risk and no reward for the community.
No way! Even my teenage kids are against it. We are a village of health! Has no one noticed that?? How about a Panera Bread or a small quaint area with shops like Joseph A Banks, and some other shops to offset what the village does not have so we don't have to ever go to a mall again?

Keep McDonald's out of our neighborhood. We have enough traffic as it is and don't need the extra noise/trash late at night.
