Using the "Indians" as the mascot/logo honors Skowhegan's Native Americans. No disrespect is intended. I was a resident of Skowhegan for most of my life and proud to be a Skowhegan Indian. I hope you will decide to keep this tradition.
As a former student of Skowhegan Indians I am proud now and then of the commitment and resiliancy this emblem showed of the history of Skowhegan. It was an honor to be a Skowhegan Indian it meant pride, respect and understanding of the heritage of who we are.
I graduated from Skowhegan Area High School. I will always know what the name of my high school is. In my opinion there is NO reason to change the name , why fix something that's not broken. S.A.H.S. should remain the name of the school
keeping the school name is an should be looked at as a tribute to alot of our ancestors. it shouldnt be taken negativley. whats next they gonna ask us to remove the indian?? skowhegan indians is a part of the towns history. leave it alone.
I was born in Skowhegan 53 years ago. I remember watching in awe as the Indian was being built as a young child. My children went to Skowhegan middle school and high school. The Indian as a mascot is a source of pride for Skowhegan, not a source of ridicule.
Long may the Skowhegan Indians Live

Why is it that outsiders want to change our community to be like where they were from? If they liked it so much, then why did they leave? They must have liked what they found here. Don't let the PC police dictate our communities heritage.
