We, the employees of Regional Medical Center of San Jose, are petitioning the County of Santa Clara to uphold the right of Regional Medical Center employees to retain our current hospital and departmental seniority. As the County of Santa Clara and HCA Regional Medical Center of San Jose move forward with formalizing the agreement for the County’s purchase of the hospital, effective August 2024, SEIU-UHW is actively collaborating with the successor union, SEIU 521, and the County to establish an interim agreement. This agreement covers critical issues such as seniority, vacation policies, and union representation for SEIU-represented workers at Regional Medical Center. This petition represents the unified voice of SEIU-UHW-represented employees at Regional Medical Center. We demand the protection and continuation of our existing hospital seniority system, which is a cornerstone of fairness and recognition for our dedication and service. We strongly oppose any effort by the County to dilute or diminish the importance of seniority through the interim agreement. Specifically, we reject any proposal that would allow other SEIU-represented County employees to transition into our hospital and disrupt the seniority and benefits earned by the hardworking employees of Regional Medical Center. Our message is clear: We will not accept any proposal that undermines our Hospital and departmental seniority that we have earned. The seniority system at Regional Medical Center is more than a policy—it is a recognition of our commitment, experience, and service to the community. Any changes to this system must respect and prioritize the rights of current Regional Medical Center employees. Sign this petition to show your support for preserving hospital seniority and protecting the rights of Regional Medical Center employees!

We hit 250 signatures today. It is exhausting to see how much we have to fight just to keep the seniority we already earned, but I am not backing down.

We hit the first hundred signatures today. It has been a long road and the days feel heavy but seeing this many people refuse to back down gives me the energy to keep going.

The transition process is wearing us all down and the silence from the county desks is becoming deafening. I am reading your messages about how much your years of service mean to you and it confirms that we have to keep pushing even when we are exhausted.

For all the years we have worked at Regional, we have served the East San Jose community. Please keep our seniority like how when HCA purchased Alexian Brothers, our years of service was recognized.
I worked long and hard to keep my seniority. 35 year employee. Why would you take away my hard earned seniority ?
You only get one chance to make a good first impression. If Santa Clara wants it's new work force to feel good about it's new employer, then need to show us some proper respect.
It would be to unfair for the employees who have been in Regional for years to have the same seniority as though one who just started
All dedicated employees of RMC demand that our seniority remain in place. We are hardworking, compassionate employees who consistently put our patients first, sometimes even before ourselves. The least the county could do is honor our seniority. We will not accept anything less.
Please protect and value old and loyal employees.
I stand by this, we need UNITY more than ever.

I have worked here in RMC since 2005 and 25 years in July. I have been loyal to this hospital. I deserve to keep my seniority. I earned it. We need protection from lay offs.
