Petition to have Mr. Peter J. Baker 's name on the new Fine Arts Academy at Camden County High School in Kingsland, GA.

The Camden County School Board has agreed to name the new State of the Art Fine Arts Academy in honor of Mr. Peter J. Baker. This honor includes a plaque. We would like his name included in the signage on the outside of the building. Mr. Baker is a Camden Native with a long and illustrious educational career in Camden County. Mr. Baker was the unifying force that guided the integration of schools in Camden County. As the Principal of the integrated high school he led the school positively. He was fair, honest and sensitive to the needs of all students, parents and faculty. Mr. Baker is respected in the community, a man of character and integrity well deserving of this honor. Several educators and community leaders have been honored with schools and other facilities named in their honor. It is fitting that the building named in his honor bear his name.

As mentioned so well deserving of such a man. Mr. Perer J. Baker was, is, and will forever be remembered by many who passed this way. C.C.H.S. can't be mentioned without that name. And just as all the others honored in past his name too should be displayed on the outside walls of the new Fine Arts Center.
Mr. Baker was an excellent principal. I am a 1977 graduate of Camden County High School and I have always had the utmost respect for Mr. Baker. He was strong but always fair and there were no issues on his watch. I support the naming of a school or educational building after Mr. Baker. Sincerely, Madonna Marx
Even though I haven’t lived in Camden County since getting married...I fully support the naming of the Fine Arts Building in honor of Mr. Peter Baker. Back in the fall of 1970, he helped to unite our 2 schools into one. I was in the 9th grade and a member of the Class of 1974. Thank you!
Mr. Baker has all the qualities that would qualify him for an honor like this! In baseball they refer to a player having all the 5 tools, well Mr. Peter J. Baker has all the qualities plus some; he was such an influence on my life and I still remember the words of advice he gave me about life!
It is fitting and proper that Mr. Peter J. Baker's name be displayed on the new Fine Arts Academy building to honor his leadership in guiding our high school from segregation to integration.

In my opinion this is way over do! Mr. Peter Baker was a role model, big brother and father to a lot of us AA males in Camden County schools. He is truly deserving of this honor.
