As a city of Milton resident, I sign this petition to voice my concern over the need for City Maintenance crews to take ownership over the clearing of Snow Windrows from homeowner driveways in the winter months or alternatively using the type snow plough technology that prevents their formation in the first place.

Many residents are forming or have already formed Musculoskeletal Disorders due to injury from having to clear these Snow Windrows. This comes are a great cost to residents and their families.

We would like the city to respond to us on the following topic:

1) Explore and present the possible solutions for achieving a Snow Windrow-free city

2) Discuss this important subject in a townhall and allow residents to express their say.

3) Explore the costs and let residents know how the costs were determined. Tell residents the expect city tax implications if any by addressing this concern.

4) We would like an answer on this no later than March 30th 2023.

5) We would like the annual budget forecast for 2024 to include some verbiage that will address our concerns.

The city should respond in writing to us Milton residents at the email address:

My own back is still recovering from the last heavy storm and I know many of you are feeling that same physical toll after every single plow pass. I am gathering the stories shared in these comments to present a clear picture of the pain these windrows cause to our neighbors when I finally sit down with city officials.

Seeing this momentum grow proves that I am not the only one struggling with the physical toll of clearing these heavy windrows. Knowing so many neighbors share this frustration gives me the strength to keep pushing the city for a real solution.

I request city to take immediate action to address this issue. City must educate snow plow companies and drivers not to pileup huge load of snow front of driver way. There are many ways to address this issue. 4 to 5 ft pileup snow front of driveway may cause some serious consequences if someone has any medical emergency.

Snow after being ploughed is 4 - 5 feet tall and blocks the driveway, which is a serious health and safety concern for the property's residents in case immediate access is required to the roads for an emergency. Shovelling this hard and dense snow takes a long time (1-2 hours), and not getting access to the roads could be fatal in an emergency.

The windrows are a nuisance. I spend hours shovelling my walkway and driveway at night to be able to head out to work first thing in the morning. Imagine my dismay when I head out at 6am and see a 3ft pile of snow blocking my driveway and waiting to be reshovelled. This is very unfair to a taxpayer

As of resident when heavy snow happens we are trying to clear sow from our driveway and we are so tired and happy to finished the job, noticing city snow removal trucks bring a heave pile of snow and push towards front of driveway, each time I have to remove the extra snow pile which is in front of my driveway, each time I hurt my back and one or two weeks takes to recover and can’t work after that.

There should be a way to decrease it. Other cities too have windrows but they are not huge and we can understand they are unavoidable, but if you make a windrow more than 2 feet high, town should be responsible to clean it. The change of moldboards ( snow blades) in those cities differ from what we have here in most cases will make a difference.

I have to inform the concerned that snow ploughing people does not remove the snow properly on the residential roads. It's the 3rd time noticed that they just remove from one side of the road. What about the other side of the road? The road is narrowed for driving n if a car is parked on the road, it's hard to remove the car from Garage because there is no space to turn. And when the plough blocks the driveway with that heavy wet Snow, it's impossible to get out even after it's shoveled as it's jammed on the ground. Please clear both sides of the roads for sake of safety. I just don't get it why only one side of the road is cleared leaving the opposite residents .
