We the resident of Ajax Ontario hereby submit the request for driveway apron snow removal program. Every year when snow season comes, it is the responsibility of each resident to clear the sidewalks and driveways and not to dump their snow on the road.

Usually, city machinery comes late to clear the snow from the roads and inside streets. People have to go to their jobs, medical appointments, schools, appointments, college and grocery stores. They also clear their driveways and sidewalks before snow turns into ice and this may cause any accident for the residents. By the time the city machinery comes, most of the resident have cleared their sidewalks and driveways.

Wall of snow which accumulates at the end of our driveway when the city clears snow from the public streets. This pile of snow is not soft and light rather it is heavy and thick snow which is very heavy and has already caused so much damaged to not only people’s back and other injuries but also damages to vehicles who try to get out or over this thick wall of snow.

Ajax has good number of populations who are also senior citizen. They cannot afford professional snow removal services. The accumulation of pile of snow caused by the city machinery on their driveway is adding insult to injury.

Since it is public responsibility to keep the sidewalks and driveways cleaned, it is also the city’s responsibility to clear accumulated snow at the end of our driveways or the snow that was pushed by the snowplow on to our driveways.

I was outside just now staring at the massive chunk of ice the plow left behind and honestly it is just infuriating how heavy this stuff gets once it freezes solid. People have been messaging me about their own back pain and it really proves this is not just some minor annoyance but a genuine barrier for so many of our neighbors.

I really cannot believe how fast this is moving now because it feels like just yesterday I was ranting to my neighbor about the heavy snow wall that keeps blocking my car in. It is wild to see so many of you feeling the exact same frustration about these piles of ice at the end of the driveway like it is actually something we can win if we keep pushing.

On Sat. March 4th. 2023. The end of my driveway is a meter high and is jam packed super heavy snow/ice mix. It’s takes hours to move with a shovel. It will be life and death if we have a medical emergency.

It was a real mess yesterday, I cleared my driveways day before but yesterday evening when I went outside there was wall of snow blocking the driveway. It was hard like a rock, I had spend 1.5 hrs to break it and clear it.

I cleaned the end of my driveway 5 times and the last time was even bigger and heavier than previous. My back is still hurting

I agree. This last snow fall the plow came by 4 times and left a mountain in front of my driveway each time

This is a serious issue that citizen of Ontario are facing this issue. Everyone should take responsibility to clear their sideway, every little step makes a huge achievement.
