We the undersigned petition University of Limerick Student's Union, O'Mahony's Booksellers, and the University of Limerick to support us in a boycott of The Irish Sun newspaper. A UL student partaking in a charity event was portrayed in an extraordinarily negative light by the newspaper with little to no regard for the individuals reputation. There was also no mention of the real and positive nature of the event that the student was involved in nor the fundraising that the student had done. The article and accompanying photograph implied that the student had been involved in the drunken vandalism that was the subject of the report.
Yours etc,
The Sun continues to ignore the harm caused to our fellow student so we must increase the pressure on O'Mahony's Booksellers to pull the paper from their shelves. Call their office today and demand that they stop stocking this publication in our bookstore. Tell them that we are watching how they handle this situation.

The momentum behind this boycott shows that students refuse to accept these hit pieces as normal. Post this link on your Facebook wall today to make sure our message reaches the entire campus. Contact the University of Limerick Student's Union to demand they pull this paper immediately.

It was so unfair what they did. He was doing something good for charity and they just wanted to sell papers by making him look bad. Get it off campus.

Glad to see people standing up for the student. That newspaper has no business being sold and supported in a university.
