This is a petition to add a left-hand turn arrow to the traffic light used while exiting out of CBHS. More than 1/3 of all car crashes occur at intersections. Out of that, 61% are from a left hand turn. About 2 out of every 3 teen drivers that are killed in car accidents are male. Approximately 20% of 16 year old drivers will crash in their first year of driving. All of these stats are frightening because CBHS is an all boys school and has many new drivers. The main entrance and exit to CBHS is on Walnut Grove, and at that intersection, there is no left hand turn arrow when you exit out of CBHS. Putting a left hand turn arrow would decrease the odds of a crash dramatically and make CBHS a much safer environment for new drivers. I ask you to sign my petition at no cost to you, but some of your time, so you can make CBHS a safer place, for all drivers.

I am still reading through the stories you are sharing about the stress of navigating that intersection after school. It is incredibly humbling to see how many of you feel the same way about this safety issue. I am currently looking into the best way to get these concerns in front of the local traffic department.

I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the way this has taken off. Truly, the credit belongs to the people who took the time to show they care about our safety. It is remarkable to see how much can happen when we simply point out a problem together.

My son drives through here every single day and I worry constantly. Put the light in!
traffic there is a nightmare in the afternoons. fix it now.
Walnut Grove is way too busy to not have a protected turn. DO IT.
Too many near misses at this spot. needs a turn arrow asap.
Do everything you can to save the lives of all drivers but especially these young drivers!!
