We, the undersigned residents of Aspen Crescent and the surrounding area, formally object to the introduction of a wildflower meadow at the corner of our street.

While we appreciate the general benefits of increasing biodiversity, we believe this particular location is not appropriate for the following reasons:

  1. Aesthetic Concerns: The area in question has already begun to grow and does not resemble a carefully managed wildflower meadow. Instead, it appears unkempt and overgrown with weeds. This is out of keeping with the well-maintained and tidy appearance of our neighbourhood, where residents take pride in their carefully manicured gardens.
  2. Loss of Usable Green Space: The site was previously a clean, open area that residents used for recreation and informal gatherings. Its current state discourages use and enjoyment.
  3. Incompatibility with Community Character: Our community is known for its neat, orderly environment. The introduction of an unmanaged or poorly maintained meadow undermines this and detracts from the overall appearance of the area.
  4. Lack of Consultation: This decision appears to have been made without proper consultation with residents who are directly affected. A change of this nature should be subject to open dialogue and community input.
For these reasons, we request that the current meadow initiative be paused, reassessed, and alternative uses for the site be considered—ones that better reflect the values and aesthetic standards of our community.

The two areas are unsightly and significantly detract from the aesthetics of our neighbourhood. They will continue to do so unless properly maintained which is very labour intensive and likely to cost significantly more than grass mowing would have done. The planned annual maintenance is not enough.

This area was far better as grass. Children could play. It is now an unsightly overgrown, full of weeds eyesore, which I have to look at everyday. My feeds show this as a grassed area. Put it back!

Our supposed ‘wildflower meadows’ are ugly unusable spaces. If they are to be kept I’d like to see working examples from other Redrow sites of how these areas are supposed to look because what we have right now looks an absolute mess with seemingly no attempt from envirocare to improve. It lets the site down and in all honesty Redrow should be embarrassed at the state of it, I know I am.

I overlook the area on Alder Prospect and strongly agree that both areas are unsightly. I request that these areas are returned to grassed areas.

It looks awful and doesn’t allow a safe place for kids to play

Please put it back to how it was, a nice grassed area. Now looks a mess. Just rough full of weeds waste land

We bought the house overlooking the land on the information that it would be grass.
